Duval County History:

Duval County is a county located in the State of Florida. Its county seat is Jacksonville, with which the Duval County government has been consolidated since 1968. Duval County was established in 1822, and is named for William Pope Duval.

When Duval County was created, it covered a massive area, from the Suwannee River on the west to the Atlantic Ocean on the east, north of a line from the mouth of the Suwannee River to Jacksonville on the St. Johns River. Alachua and Nassau counties were created out of parts of Duval County in 1824. Clay County was created from part of Duval County in 1858. Part of St. Johns County south and east of the lower reaches of the St. Johns River was transferred to Duval County in the 1840s.

Quick Catch Client Testimonial

Ryan and his team were excellent to work with! We were having an awful time with a large boar destroying our backyard and discovered Quick Catch through various reviews and a recent news telecast featuring their services. They made sure to come out the afternoon I had called them and began setting traps and cameras to monitor the situation. Due to the fact the hog terrorizing our yard was a larger, older animal they needed to adjust their approach to catching him a few times, but within two weeks the animal was trapped and removed (to our great relief!) Throughout the entire process Ryan was very helpful, quick to respond to any questions we had, and kept us informed of the situation at all times. It was a pleasure working with him and his team and I would highly recommend them to anyone having wildlife problems! – Kara W.

On October 1, 1968, the government of Duval County was consolidated with the government of the city of Jacksonville, although the Duval County cities of Atlantic Beach, Baldwin, Jacksonville Beach, and Neptune Beach are not included in the corporate limits of Jacksonville, and maintain their own municipal governments.
