Common Wild Animal Home Invaders

Wild animals and pests commonly invade homes looking for warmth and shelter especially when the weather starts getting cold or their is a lot of water and rain. The animals can cause many damages and can create unsanitary conditions as they can spread bacteria and parasites. North Florida doesn’t get as cold as some other areas but does get cold enough where animals can start invading your home.

Three Most Common Wild Animal Home Invaders in the First Coast of Jacksonville

  1. Rodents:
Rodents such as rats and mice can easily find their way into homes or buildings and quickly build a nest for starting a family. They can live in the walls, the attic or crawl spaces.
  2. Raccoons:
Raccoons can be big problems for homes, office buildings and apartment complexes. They like going through the trash and making big messes. They can quickly breed to create a large family in a short time.
  3. Opossums:
Opossums also like to come in for an unexpected stay. There have been many cases where people didn’t even know that opossums were in their local area when they were discovered in their home.
  4. Squirrels:
Squirrels are notorious for finding their way into attics. They gnaw their way in and set up their home to build their family. It is relatively easy for them to get access if your home is not set up to prevent their entry.
  5. Snakes:
Snakes are more commonly found in one’s yard but they do find their way in people’s living quarters from time to time. Quick Catch has had the pleasure of removing venomous snakes from crawlspaces.

Rat Infestation Video

Animal Planet‘s show Infested features Laura Burns thinks the worst is over when she removes a rat from her crawlspace, before the horrifying realization that they are breeding by the many in her garage. This is an extreme example of a rat problem that got way out of control.
